Look at the World, its Veil — I

About the image: With this work, I want to investigate the process of context-dependent perception. I have chosen a material subject to constant change; it changes its form depending on the light and air conditions. Another influence is the dynamic of the throw, which makes it float. The Emergency Blanket remains pure material; I am not interested in creating a political statement (which does not mean I have not been asked to do so repeatedly). The focus is on the materiality and the forms it makes possible. They arise by chance and are impossible to repeat. This is because the context is new. The wind circulates differently every time the blanket is thrown, and the sun casts a different light. With the shutter release, I turn the camera into a sculptor, capturing this sculpture carved into the sky from the infinite shapes that would be possible. Viewers can read various things in it; ideally, they no longer recognize the source material.   I want to create singular motifs that are in no way repeatable because the relationships they form are too complex to recreate. Once the image is printed, I destroy all digital versions. The image exists only on paper and becomes doubly unique as a unique print with a motif choice that cannot be repeated. This form exists only on the wall on which the image is hung.
