Title:

The Eiffel Tower on a grey Thursday afternoon

Artist:

About the image: I took this photograph on my first and thus far only visit to the Eiffel Tower, on a distinctively ordinary and very boring Thursday afternoon. Once there, it struck me how the experience of seeing the tower for the first time was really underwhelming. In fact, the trip leading to the tower itself, catching glimpses of it between the Parisian apartments and through narrow avenues, was much more interesting that seeing it in the open, in its full glory for the first time. So instead of just capturing the naked tower, I lowered my shutter speed and allowed for the image to blur – a nod to my own mixed experience with the famous landmark, and a reminder that it is up to yourself to make the most of the world you see around you.
