The Eiffel Tower On A Grey Thursday Afternoon

About the image:

Glimpses of the Eiffel Tower

I took this photograph on my first and thus far only visit to the Eiffel Tower on a distinctively ordinary and very dull Thursday afternoon. Once there, it struck me how the experience of seeing the tower for the first time was underwhelming. The trip leading to the tower, catching glimpses of it between the Parisian apartments and through narrow avenues, was much more interesting than seeing it in the open, in its full glory for the first time. So, instead of just capturing the naked tower, I lowered my shutter speed and allowed the image to blur – a nod to my mixed experience with the famous landmark and a reminder that it is up to you to make the most of the world you see around you.
