Ende 2022 wurde ich von Leica zusammen mit vier anderen internationalen Fotografen nach Dubai eingeladen, um ein fotografisches Portr\u00e4t dieses modernen Babylons in der W\u00fcste zu erstellen. Nat\u00fcrlich war ich beeindruckt von der gewaltigen Architektur, die in Rekordzeit errichtet worden war. Aber die obsz\u00f6ne Zurschaustellung von Luxus und das entkoppelte Leben in vollklimatisierten R\u00e4umen hat mich auch verunsichert. Ein Tag und eine Nacht in der nahe gelegenen Al Marmoom-W\u00fcste brachten mich jedoch wieder zur Ruhe. Die Natur hat eine heilende Pr\u00e4senz und ich war weit weg von all dem vom Menschen verursachten Wahnsinn.
